Fishing Report
These are some nice Chetco river Steelhead we caught recently
Date: Feb. 5th
Hello fishermen; The fishing really could not get any better. I have been getting limits just about everyday this week. Most days all before 12:00 and the best was 10:00. So life has been good along with the fishing. The rivers are starting to get low but still have some good color so the fishing will be good for awhile. The weather has been great also with sun and some clouds and no rain. There is some coming this week but not enough to put the rivers out. so if you are going fishing you should do good, but if you are not better get going. With the weather and all the fish we are getting March is also looking to be a great month to fish. I will be fishing on the Umpqua river the and should have some good fishing. So if you want to have fun and fish give me a call. Hope to see you on the river.

Hello fishermen; The fishing this past week has been pretty good. We have had some great days and some slow ones. The water on both rivers are lookiing good. The Smith River is down around 17 feet and the Chetco is at 2600 cfs, so both are getting lower but still have some great color. The Chetco is almost on the muddy side, but with a little green. Yesterday was one of the better days I had this week, with limits before 12:00. Most the fish have been around 7 to 8 pounds with a bigger one yesterday around 13 pounds. We got just over a inch of rain last night and the rivers did come up but not that much. The fishing was not as good but we did get 3 to the boat. The best thing was that one was 17 pounds. This is the biggest for my boat this year. The weather is going to be really nice the next few days so I hope the fishing will be just as good. Hope to see you on the river.

Hello fishermen; Well I think the rain has finally stopped for awhile. The sun is actually out now. In the past week we have gotten over 18 inches of rain, it is had to believe. Most the rivers around here got to flood stage and have not been fishable for a week. The rivers are just coming in now. The Smith River is at 21 feet now and is going down pretty fast and the Chetco is down to around 7500 cfs and may fish in a few days. Before all this rain hit we were doing well so I think the fishing will be great when they are all fishing. So look for some great steelhead fishing for awhile. Hope to see you on the river.

Hello fishermen; The fishing has been pretty good these past few week. I have been catching fish just about every trip I have had. I have not caught anything big but most the fish have been around 8 pounds, with the biggest about 13 pounds. I have been fishing mainly on the Chetco River but the Smith has been good also. The only thing this last week we have had low clear water, with no rain since the first of the month. So we have been getting lower and clear each day that goes by. This was putting a lot of fish in just a few holes, and the fish getting spooky. Even with these conditions I was getting 3 to 4 Steelhead a day. We have been asking for rain this last week and now we are getting it. In the past 18 hours we have gotten almost 4 inches and a lot of wind. We are getting gust close to 40 miles an hour, so just to say we are not fishing today. The Chetco river is out now. It went from 1000 cfs to over 7000 over night and is going to get close to 30,000 they say tonite. The Smith is going out also, but the good thing is it is going to be great fishing when they come down. So while you are sitting by the fire get your gear ready because we have some great fishing in the future. Hope to see you on the river.

Hello fishermen; Well we did get our rain we were waiting for and more. Right at the first of the year we got about 6 inches all at once. So the Smith and Chetco Rivers were out for a few days. They came back in around this last Monday, which was pretty fast for how much rain we got. Since then the fishing has been pretty good. We have been getting fish every day with some better then others, of course that is fishing. My best day we hooked 6 fish and landed 5 of them. Most of them have been around 8 pounds with a few over 10 pounds. My biggest so far this year has been 12 pounds, it is still out here for some other lucky fishermen. I have been catching all my Steelhead side drifting bait with a puff ball. Now we are looking for some more rain. The rivers are getting pretty low and clear now. The Chetco is at 3.9 feet and the Smith is at 14 feet, pretty low for this time of year. If we don't get some rain soon we will start hitting in some of these riffles, but the fish will still be there just a little spooky. So if you are fishing soon pray for some rain. Hope to see you on the river.

Hello fishermen; We have been sitting areound now for a long time waiting for some rain and there has not been any. The rivers have been so low we can not really fish them. This has been the lowest rain fall on the coast that I can ever remember. So to say I have not caught many fish this month. But the future is looking up. It is raining right now on the Smith and Chetco rivers and they are coming up. I am not sure how much we are going to get but it is a lot more then have gotten. This is the first big storm for these rivers so the fishing should be great this next week for the Steelhead and of course later on as well. I will be fishing there soon so I will let you know. Hope to see you on the river.

Hello fishermen; Well our Salmon on the Klamath River are done now. They all are spawning now and do not want to bite. But the good thing is that there are plenty of Steelhead out there to have a good time with. I fished last week for them and caught 5 to 8 fish each trip. I was getting fish on both flies and drifting bait. There are also a lot of Trout that are biting also. The weather is getting colder now and with the daylight saving started you do not need to get out that early. It is great to see all the salmon spawning in the river and know that this will keep us going in the future. The past few days I was fishing on the Smith river for the big Salmon. We had a rain a few days ago and brought the river up and the fishing was pretty good for just a few days until the river went down and got to clear. Thing was that the river was not that high so the bite was short lived. Monday we hooked 9 Salmon and landed 3. We had 2 at 30 pounds and a jack but had one over 45 pounds on for over 20 minutes and lost it at the boat. It was great just to see it a lot and know he will make some big babies. The next day we only got 2 bites and that was our day. They really do not like the clear water. The Smith and Chetco Rivers should be good for the next month as long as we are getting rain. So if you want to catch a lot if nice Steelhead the Klamath is the river you want to go to and if you want some big Salmon the Smith or Chetco rivers are the place to go. Just watch the weather. Hope to see you on the river.

Hello fishermen; The Salmon fishing on the upper Klamath River is starting to slow down. We are still catching salmon but just not as many. The past few days I have boated 15 fish and lost just as many. Still some great days. I am now seeing a lot of fish moving to the tail outs and starting to spawn. Along with this we are seeing a lot more trout and Steelhead starting to bite. There have been a lot caught on flies the past few days and should get better as more salmon start spawning. If the steelhead run is anything like the Salmon run it should be s great year for fishing. The weather is getting colder and the leaves have changed colors and are starting to fall, so fall is upon us and we should start thinking of the winter Steelhead and late run Salmon on the Smith and Chetco Rivers. The first big storm that hits the coast will bring the big Salmon up the rivers, so youshould be ready to go. Hope to see you on the river.

Hello fishermen; The fishing on the Klamath River is doing very good. It is hard to believe we are still catching so many fish each day and they seem to be still coming. We had a small weather change the other day and the bite did slow a little but we still landed 13 Salmon. The past they days the bite is slow in the morning but gets going as the sun gets on the water. The other day we had one of the best days ever, we had a group of father and sons and even daughters out fishing. The was great every one caught plenty of Salmon and for most of them they were the biggest fish they had ever caught. I am sure we made some great menories for them. I am starting to see a few fish moving to start spawning and with this happening there are a few more Steelhead starting to show up. I landed two the other day while fishing for the Salmon. So our fishing for the next few monthes is looking to be pretty good. Hope to see you on the river.

Hello fishermen; I do not think the fishing could not get any better then if is now on the upper Klamath river. We are still seeing 20 or more fish per day, and now some of the bigger fish are starting to show up. Most the fish are around 10 pounds, but as you see there are some big ones here also. We landed one today that was over 35 pounds. All the fish we have been catching have been on bait but there is no reson why they would not bite plugs also. I have seen a lot caught on spinners by the bank fishermen. So just about eveyone is having fun with the Salmon this year. Most these fish we are catchiong are still out there. I may only keep 2 or 3 fish a day for the clients to smoke otherwise we release all of them. We are seeing a few Steelhead on the river so we should have a few more soon. Hope to see you on the river.

Hello fishermen; The fishing on the upper Klamath River has been awsome. You could not believe but I am averaging over 20 fish a day. Most the Salmon are jacks about 7 to 10 pounds but fight like they are 20 pounders. The past few days we have had some rain but it did not slow the bite down at all. Yesterday with one person in the boat we landed 22 and today with two people we hooked 35 fish and landed 24. It can not get any better. It will spoil you catching that many fish, it does not happen all the time. We are starting to see more big fish the past few days and the word from the mouth of the river is that they are still getting new fish in ever day. So look for the season going longer then the 30th of the month. All my fish have been on bait and we are starting to see a few Steelhead so the fishing should be good for awhile. I have not seen any spawning fish yet so the Steelhead fishing with flies should be starting for about a week and then it should get good when the Salmon start spwaning. So you fly fishermen start thinking about the last of Oct for some great fly fishing on the upper Klamath River. Hope to se you on the river.

Hello fishermen; There are plenty of fish on the upper Klamath River. I have been fishing from Iron Gate Dam to the Montague bridge and landing 15 to 20 fish a trip. The best day was yesterday when we landed over 30 salmon. It is hard to believe but they do like to bite. Today the bite was slow in the morning but got better as the day went by. We hooked over 30 fish and landed 27. We had a lot of rain last night so I think this slowed them down, but who can ask for a better day of fishing. The weather has not been great the past few days but is going to get better for the weekend. The fish have been averaging around 10 pounds but we are seeing a lot more big fish the past few days. The biggest today was just under 20 pounds and yesterday we had one that was over 20 pounds. We are seeing a few Steelhead, I caught one the other day and one today. This is a good sign for our fishing this next month. The Steelhead like to sit behind the spawning Salmon. So the fishing can get pretty good in November. This Salmon fishing will last for another few weeks and then they will go to spawning and not want to bite . So if you want some fun the Klamath is the place.
Hope to see you on the river.

Hello fishermen; The fishing has been great on the upper Klamath River. Yesterday I had only one fishermen in the boat and he landed almost 20 Salmon. A great day on any river. Most the fish are around 7 or 8 pounds but fight like they are a lot bigger. This year is a great Jack year. The biggest was about 15 pounds. The great thing is they are all still out there ready to bite again for some waiting fishermen. Today was just as good for most of the morning but we have a storm moving in and put them down after about 11:00. We still managed to land 13 Salmon and lost more then we landed. Today we got some bigger fish. The biggest was around 20 pounds. We are catching all our fish back bouncing eggs and getting a few to bite plugs. This great fishing should only get better as the month goes along, so you better get up here and get your share. Hope to see you on the river.

Hello fishermen; I hope the summer has been treating you right and you have caught some of the Salmon that are on their way up river. I just got back from fishing the lower Klamath River. We had some great fishing all of Sept. There was only a couple of days I did not catch our full limits and many of those days we released fish to get the right size ones we needed. I was drifting bait with light tackle, so the fights we had were great. The fish were in great shape this year, they were fat from all the food in the ocean. We had a lot of Jacks this year and there were days we could not make a cast without catching one and many times two or three at a time. So to say the least it was a lot of fun. We did not catch a lot of big ones but we had all of our adults each day. The biggest for the season was a 35 pounder and the biggest I heard about was a 42 pounder, so they were out there. Now I am on the upper Klamath River looking to catch the ones I missed in the lower river. They are up here in good numbers already. So if you are looking to have a good time and catch some nice Salmon the Klamath River is the place to be. Hope to see you on the river.

Hello fishermen; Just got from fishing on the Kenai River in Alaska. The fishing was not the best I have seen but did see a few big fish. I am now starting my Salmon season here on the Klamath River. I will start on the lower river at the Klamath Glen and will fish there through Sept. There are Salmon in the river now and the fishing has been pretty good, with most boats getting fish every day. There have been a lot of Jacks in the first part of the run. So I am looking to see the big fish anytime. There have been a lot of Steelhead also with some boats hooking more Steelhead then Salmon some days. So if you want some nice weather and some great action the Klamath is the place to be. Hope to see you on the river.

Hello fishermen; Well I think we are going to finally have some nice weather. It has been raining on us more then the sun has been out this spring. So this just makes the fishing tougher with all the water that is running off the mountains. The fish are still there just got to find them. The Klamath River is still to high to fish at this time but is coming down each day. So maybe by the middle of this month we will fishing on it. It should be a great year for the fly hatch with all the water we have had. The Sacramento river is the best bet for Trout at this time. It has been putting out good numbers now that they are not releasing so much water. So if you want some great Trout fishing give me a call. Hope to see you on the river.

Hello fishermen; Finally got my computer working again just in time for the end of the season. Well the Steelhead season on the Smith and Chetco rivers are over. It was not bad fishing over all even with all the weather we got. I ended the month of March on the Umpqua river. The fishing was pretty good. The water was on the high side but there were a lot of fish that wanted to bite. We were getting 4 to 5 fish each trip and my best day was a 8 fish day. It would of been better if the water had kept going down but the weather had other ideas. The river went out at the end of the month and only now is back fishing again. If the weather stays nice the Umpqua is the place to get your Steelhead fishing in. The Klamath River is out at this time but I am looking to have a great Trout season this year with all the water we are going to have. When the river comes down and the weather gets nice the Trout will start biting. I think by the middle of May we will start getting good Trout fishing. Then at the end of May we will start seeing our Salmon and Stone flies come out. If you want some great dry fly fishing this is the place to go. By the first of June this is a great fishery. The fish just love those big flies on the surface. So get your fly rod out and get your lines wet. Hope to see you on the river.

Hello fishermen; The fishing on the Smith and Chetco Rivers has been pretty good this past week. The fishing was great just after the storms went through and went down as the water went down. We were still getting 3 to 4 fish a day on our slower days and 6 to 7 on the better days. Most the fish we have been catching have been on bait and yarn. I have not caught a fish on a plug yet, but I do keep trying. The weather is pretty bad right now. Today on the river the wind was blowing up to 30 miles an hour with rain coming down sideways. The river had come up some and had some color in it and the fish did like it. We hooked 7 fish and landed 5 before noon and got out of the bad weather. So there are a few fish still out there. We only had one downer and the rest were fresh fish. This is a great thing to see this late in the season. So there are going to be plenty of fish for the rest of the season. I will be on the Chetco river the next few weeks and then I am going to move to the Umpqua river for the rest of the month and part of April to fish the late run on fish there. It should be good with all the water we have been getting. Hope to see you on the river.

Hello fishermen; Sorry about not having a report for so long. I have been fishing on the Umpqua river and do not have my computer with me. Anyway the weather got way to nice on the Smith and Chetco rivers. We did not get any rain for over 3 weeks and the rivers got way to low and clear. We were catching fish but we just ran out of water. So off to the Umpqua with a lot more water. I was fishing on the main river below Roseburg OR and doing pretty good. I was getting 3 to 5 fish each day but not many keepers, we can only keep hatchery fish. That is all good the fight is the best part. Most the fish we were catching were about 7 to 10 pounds, along with one monster caught on billy's boat. It was a 24.5 pounder he caught with one of our clients. It was a pig, 38 inches long and had a monster girth of 22 inches. A once in a life time fish and will look good on the wall. It is nice to know it will still be out there to make big babies. We have now got plenty of water again and now back on the Smith and Chetco Rivers. At this time the Chetco is out and the Smith is just starting to fish today. So the fishing is going to get good for awhile, so get the poles out and go catch a few fish. Hope to see you on the river.

Hello fishermen; Our rain did finally stop but not until it had put down 6 inches of rain in two days. Now that was a lot and we thought we would not fish for a few days but they dropped fast. The Smith started fishing on Tuesday and we did ok but it was a little slow. The next day was a lot better and has been fishing pretty good since then. The river is down low and clear at this time but is still putting out fish. The Chetco started fishing on last wensday and was great with most boats limiting out for the next 4 or 5 days. My best days was Thursday. We hooked over 16 fish and landed 9 with 3 people in my boat. Most the fish have been around 7 pounds with a few over 10 pounds. My biggest was a nice 15 pounder we caught on Friday. We are still doing ok now with the river low and getting clear, but we could use some rain again. The weather has been way to nice for the middle to end of January. I have been in a tee shirt every day with the temps up in the 60's. Just working on my red nose everyday. We should have good fishing for a while and even better when we get some more rain. Hope to see you on the river.

Hello fishermen; Well we are getting the rain we needed and now it can stop... The rivers are up and many of them are not fishing at this time, but now they are dropping fast. The Smith River should fish in the next few days and the Chetco may fish by the first of the week. The good news with all the high water is that it is bringing in more fish. So when the water does go done we will have some great fishing again. Hope to see you on the river.

Hello fishermen; The fishing has been pretty good this last week. I have been on the chetco River most of the days and doing ok. The rivers are getting very low and clear at this time and we are looking for some more rain to bring them up. Even with the rivers low there are a few fish willing to bite. My last day on the Chetco River I hooked 4 and landed 3 nice Steelhead. It does need water to bring more fish in. Yesterday I fished on the Smith River and did about the same. The best thing was that there were not many boats out and we had it just about to ourselves. The weather has been very nice this past week but is now turning to rain. This is a great thing for the rest of this week and fishing next week. So look to have some great fishing this next week on the Smith and Chetco Rivers. Hope to see you on the river.

Hello fishermen; I have been fishing on the Smith and Chetco rivers. We have been doing very good. When the rivers came down the Smith river was the first to come in. The first few days of Jan. was good, I was catching 2 to 4 fish a trip. Most of them were around 7 to 8 pounds with the biggest just over 11 pounds. With the weather geting nice and no rain the Chetco River came in a few days ago and is fishing great now. The first day I was out we hooked 5 fish and landed 2 of them. The best part of the day was that I was fishing kids and their mother. The kids hooked all the fish which was a great thing to whatch. The river just got better each day and we went form catching a few fish to limits every day. It was so good I was getting all our fish by noon each day, today it was 1:00 but I had three people. You don't get to have fishing this good to often so I am enjoying it while it lasts. The fish we have been getting have been about 7 pounds and bigger. I have not caught anything real big but all nice fish anyway. In the last 3 days we have landed 20 Steelhead and only 4 of them have been wild fish. I think this is great that our hatchery program is releasing these fish for us to catch. The weather is going to be good for a few more days and then will change for the weekend. By then we will need some rain to put some color back in the water. So the Smith and Chetco Rivers are the place to be for some great Steelhead fishing. Hope to see you on the river.

Hello fishermen; Had a great day on the river today. It was raining most the day but the fish are already wet and they wanted to bite pretty good. I was fishing the upper Klamath near the dam, so the river was not affected by all the rain we have been having. We started fishing with plugs and did ok. We landed one nice Steelhead and a couple of Trout, not that good for the first few holes. So I tried one fly out and right away I had three fish on in about 3 minutes. It is great to find what they want for the day. We pulled flies the rest of the day and hooked 10 Steelhead and landed 7 of them along with 20 to 30 trout. Not bad for a day on the river. With all the rain we have been having, a lot of the rivers are out so the Klamath river is the place to go and catch your Steelhead this month. Hope to see you on the river.
Date: Dec. 6th
Hello fishermen; The fishing on the Upper Klamath River for the Steelhead has been pretty good. I have been fishing on the upper river from the dam to the bridge and averaging 3 or 4 adult fish a trip and a lot of smaller trout. Most the fish have been on plugs and bait and a few on flies. I have had a few trips near Happy Camp also and have done well. One day we fished flies only and landed 4 nice steelhead and some half pounders. The weather turned bad and we got a lot of rain and snow and the river came up and the fishing was not as good but we did manage to land a few nice fish. The river is back now and we are doing well again. The Smith and Chetco rivers were out for a few days with the last rain but are down now and fishing ok. The Salmon are just about done but we are seeing the Steelhead showing up now. The steelhead fishing should only get better as the month goes by. So if you are looking for some good fishing the Smith and Chetco rivers should be good. Hope to see you on the river.

Hello fishermen; Sorry about not having a report for so long. Been having problems with computer and website. So hopefully they are all fixed now. Our Salmon season is now over on the Klamath and I am now fishing for the Steelhead. The salmon run was pretty good this year and we got our quota into the hatchery and we caught plenty of them also. We did see a lot of bigger fish this year on the upper riverand into the hatchery. The biggest I saw caught was a 42 pounder and they even got a bigger one into the hactery, a 50 pounder. This is great to see from a river that everyone thinks is dieing. Well they are wrong and they sure do not need to pull the Dams out!!! I have been fishing on the upper Klamath river this past month for the Steelhead and doing pretty good. The fly fishing for them has been good but the bait fishing has been a lot better. My best day was last week when we landed 7 adults and over 25 smaller fish and even hooked a good Silver Salmon. It has gotten a lot colder this past week and we even got some snow so the bite did slow a little but my last trip we still landed a few nice fish. This fishing will be good through the winter depending on the weather.
I have also been fishing on the Smith and Chetco rivers for the Salmon and doing ok. If you hit the river level right it has been great. My last trip there the water was on the low side but we did catch some nice fish. We did not land a fish under 20 pounds and our biggest was just under 40 pounds. Not a bad average. The Chetco was fishing better just because it holds its color longer, but the Smith has got some of the bigger fish I have heard of. Last week there was a 56 pounder landed and I have heard of a few others earlier. So if you want a big one the Smith or Chetco Rivers is the place to be, but if you want a lot of action the Klamath is the place. Hope to see you on the river.

Hello fishermen; I am now fishing on the upper Klamath River near Yreka CA. The salmon fishing on the lower river was ok. It was not great fishing but I did catch fish every day but just not limits. The Last few days we did land some big fish. I had 2 just about 30 pounds in one day, so there are a few big fish coming. Now I am fishing for the ones I missed down river. The fishing has been pretty good. I have been getting around 10 fish a day until the weather change last night. It was slower but we still did get 5 fish to the boat. This fishing should be good for the next few weeks and then I will start fishing for the Steelhead following the Salmon up. So if you want to have fun the Klamath River is the place. Hope to see you on the river.

Hello fishermen; Well the fishing on the lower Klamath is getting pretty good. We are seeing a few more fish showing up the past week and should only get better. Most boats are getting 2 to 3 fish per person a day. This is the good days with some slower ones mixed in. I have not seen a lot of bigger fish but most of them have been around 12 to 15 pounds with a few jacks mixed in. We are not seeing as many steelhead but we are not really fishing the areas where they hang out. Just have beeen fishing for the Salmon. I see the fishing only getting better as we move into the month. I will not have a computer again for a while so reports will be slow but the fishing is always good on the Klamath even with all the bad things you hear. So if you want to get a hold of me or just want a fishing report call my cell phone and if I am not landing a fish You can get an up to date report. Hope to see you on the river.

Hello fishermen; Just got back from fishing in Alaska on the Kenai River. The fishing was not real good but I did get a few nice salmon for the season. My biggest fish landed in my boat was 57 pounds. I had a lot of fish over 40 pounds and a lot more in the 30 pound class. The only bad thing about the summer up there was that it rained just about every day. Got tired of lving in my rain gear. But now I am in the hot weather and am going to be able to fish in shorts and a tee shirt. It is about that time of year when we start fishing on the lower Klamath River for the Salmon. There has been some fish pushing up the river already and the fishing has been spotty. The fishing will get better as we move to the end of the month and Sept. If it is anything like last year we are in for a good run of fish. So if you are planning on putting some Salmon in the freezer the Klamath River is the place, so book your dates as soon as you can. Hope to see you on the river.

Hello fishermen; Our dry fly fishing has been going pretty good so far this year. Our weather has been pretty cold this spring and has put the bugs late. But now the Salmon flies and Stone flies are out in the thousands. The fish have just started to come to the surface for them the past few days and my last few trips have been good. We are not catching a ton of fish but I have been getting 20 to 30 a trip. Most the fish have been 10 to 12 inches but have seen a few over 18 inches a one over 20 inches. Not bad fish on a dry fly. This fishing usually starts in late May and may last into the third week of June, so it is short but sweet. I am now heading to Alaska to fish on the Kenai River. I will not have fishing reports from there but if you want to see how I am doing you can look on hilofishing.com or on my most recent pictures on my web site. Hope you all have a great summer and catch a lot of fish or at least have a lot of fun trying. Hope to see you on the river.

Hello fishermen; Our Steelhead seasons are all down now and I am now fishing the upper Klamath River. I am fishing for the native Rainbows. The fishing has been slow, the river has been muddy and high from all the rain we have been getting. It just finally cleared up the past couple of days. I was fly fishing yesterday and had a great day. The sun was out and it was one of the warmest days we have had and the fish were biting. We landed over 20 nice Trout and a lot of other bites. Most the fish were around 10 inches and a few over 14 inches but the best was that we landed two really nice fish over 18 inches long. We caught all our fish drifting the flies and the best fly was a black stone. Not a bad day for having only one fishermen in the boat. The fly fishing will only get better as the water warms up. This will help bring on more fly hatches. The Salmon fly and Stone fly hatch will be starting soon with the warmer weather. So if you want some great fly fishing (wet and dry) the upper Klamath River is the best place to be for May and June. Hope to see you on the river.

Hello fishermen; Well our season is done now on the Smith and Chetco Rivers. It was a pretty good season this year. We had a lot of rain, which we need, but we got to fish most of the time. The Cetco was out a lot this month but the Smith made up for it. It was high a lot of days but we were still catching fish. The great thing for the end of the season was all the fresh fish we were seeing. The last few days on the Smith I caught more fresh fish then downers. They were not real big fish but most of them were around 7 pounds with a few up to 10 pounds. We will miss these rivers and there fish until next year. But this is not the end of the Steelhead fishing for the year yet. I just got back from the Umpqua River and it still fishing good. The river was on the high side, but I did manage to catch 13 fish in three days. Not a bad trip for the conditions. Most the fish were 7 to 10 pounds and most of them were uppers. This river will fish good for the rest of the month. So if you want to catch some Steelhead give me a call. Hope to see you on the river.

Ps hope you like the new site.

Hello fishermen; The fishing has been pretty good this past week. I have been on the Chetco river the past few days and averaging 1 to 4 fish a trip. The good thing is that we are seeing a few fresh fish still coming in. Yesterday we had 1 upper and the rest were downers. We are catching most our fish drifting bait and a fish pill, but there are few days that the plugs have worked well also. The Smith River is starting to get pretty clear now and is at 16.5 feet and the Chetco is getting down under 2000 cfs. I fished the Smith river the other day and did very good. We landed 3 very nice Steelhead. That was a very great day and I wish they all were like that. Then the next day we only caught one. What a difference a day makes. We are getting a lot of wind and rain at this time so hopefully it will bring the rivers up some. It is hard to believe that there is many boats out there fishing when the fishing is pretty good. There just is not many guides out there fishing. All our businesses are down this year. It makes it nice for the ones that are out there and gives more fish per boat. I do have a lot of days open for the rest of the month, so lets go catch a few fish. Hope to see you on the river.

Hello fishermen; Again the weather has not been good to us. We got another 4 inches of rain the past few days and the rivers have not been fishing for awhile. Now we have had a few nice days and they are just coming in again and should fish good for awhile. This past week we did ok. The rivers were in good condition and we were catching a few fish. Most the days we had 1 to 4 fish per boat but we did get a few great days in when we had over 5 fish a boat. Now most of those fish were downers but we did see a few fresh Steelhead. We just finished one of our derbies for the season this last weekend and it was tough fishing. The total for both the Smith and Chetco rivers was 14 Steelhead. That was 11 for the Smith and 3 for the Chetco. The rivers were really high which did not help us. So we had a great time and made some money for our fish hatcheries. The best part of the weekend besides making money for the hatcheries is that our team got first place. I had a good team that carried me along. In all it was a great time and with a few fish and a lot of water. Hope to see you on the river.

Hello fishermen; The Smith and Chetco rivers have been fishing pretty good this past week. With all the rain we have had this past few weeks the rivers are high. The chetco has been out for a few days so I have been on the Smith river. I had some good days and a few slow ones. We had a good one yesterday, we hooked 3 and landed 2 of them and had a few more good bites we missed. The fish we have been catching are fighting like they are twice as big as they are. I guess they are just mean this year. Most the fish have been around 7 pounds with a few over 10 pounds. I did get a big one on the Smith River the other day. We caught it at the forks and landed it a few holes down and it was 17.5 pounds. This is my biggest for the year and the biggest for the fishermen who caught it. The Chetco river just came in today and fished pretty good. Most boats had a few fish and we ended up landing 5. That is a great day and what made it even better the sun was out all day. I was in a tee shirt most the day. It was 67 degrees on the river. I thought I was on the wrong river and it was not winter. Oh we love it and it is going to be this way the rest of the week. With the fish that are coming in now we are looking to have a great march, so if you want to have fun and catch a few fish the Smith and Chetco are looking good for March. Hope to see you on the river.

Hello fishermen; This past week of fishing has been ok. The water levels are down and the rivers are in great condition but the fish really do not want to bite. I am catching fish every day just not what I think I should for the color and level. I have been getting 2 to 4 fish a day but I am working for them. I did have one great day last Tuesday. We hooked over 10 fish and had our limits around 12:00. I wish every day was like that but we all know it can not be. Most the fish I have been catching have been averaging around 7 to 8 pounds but we are seeing a few big fish show up. I did also get another fish that was 16.5 pounds yesterday. I caught that one on the lower Chetco river. It was a great fish just out of the ocean and was a great fight. We also landed one that was 15 pounds today. So there are some nice fish out there. The weather is changing now so hopefully it will not rain to much. Hope to see you on the river.

Hello fishermen; Think we have had enough rain this past week. We have not gotten as much as the weathermen said we would get. Which is great it let us fish. We have had over 5 inches in the last week but at least it was not all at once. The chetco river has been out but we have been fishing on the Smith River. The river is on the high side but the color has been great. The fishing has not been as great. We are catching fish every day but not a lot of them. My best day this past week was 3 fish. The rain has finally slowed down, we have not had any for the past 24 hours. This is only going to help the fishing. The Smith River is at 17.4 feet and the chetco is under 7000cfs. The chetco should fish by the weekend. Hope to see you on the river.

Hello fishermen; Well the fishing on the Smith and chetco rivers has been ok. The first part of the week was not good. The rivers were to high and not really fishable. I did get Monday in and we landed one nice Steelhead and lost another. The rain hit us hard that day and night and the rivers came up a bunch so we did not go. Then it rained again and put them out until today. Yesterday some people went out and plunked. The reports were that maybe a fish per boat not bad for the high water. This was on the Smith river, the Chetco was to muddy. Today the Smith was down under 18 feet and was driftable. The fishing was not great but there was some fish caught. From what we saw it was a fish or two per boat. Most the fish have been around 8 to 10 pounds with a few over 12 pounds. Did hear about a big one but not really sure. It was not in my boat. The chetco river may start fishing this weekend just depends on the rain that is going in. I think this last raise in the rivers is only going to help us and bring more fish in. So if you are looking for some hard fighting fish the Smith and Chetco rivers are a good bet. Just bring your rain gear and warm clothes. Hope to see you on the river.

Hello fishermen; We have been getting a lot of rain here but at least we are still fishing. In the last few days we have gotten over 2 inches. I have been on the Smith River and doing really good for the conditions. The river has been in good shape the past few days. Yesterday we fished it at 17 feet and dropping and still we landed 2 nice Steelhead. Last night it rained again but the river was still in good shape. It was down under 16 feet and the color was great. The fishing was great also. I had just one fishermen out today and he landed 3 fish. The great thing was that one of them was 15 pounds. It was a very nice fish and fought like one that was even bigger. I think it took us over 15 minutes to land him. Took a few pictures and put him back. So there is a nice fish out there for someone else to land. It is raining at this time and the weatherman says it should be that way for next few days. As long as it is not a lot to put the rivers out. They are holding very well at this time. The Chetco is fishing good at this time also. It is down under 3500 cfs and has great color. So if you are looking for some great fishing the Smith and Chetco Rivers are the place to be. Hope to see you on the river.

Hello fishermen; Well the Steelhead season has gotten off to a pretty good start. We are getting a lot more rain already compared to last year. The fishing is good also. The rivers were out a lot this past week but are down now and fishing. The Smith river was fishing a couple of days ago and is now just getting down to a great level. Most of the fishermen have been getting 1 to 2 fish a boat, with a few lucky fishermen getting more. I have not seen any big fish yet and have not heard of any yet. But that does not mean they are not out there. The Smith is at 18 feet at this time, but is inching up with this last rain today. It should be good as long as the rain stops. The Chetco river just stared fishing today and has a great color. It is down under 4000cfs and still dropping. There are some slides on the upper river so it is taking longer to come in. But as of the last report the plunkers were doing good which is a great sign for us boat fishermen. The weatherman is calling for more rain but not a lot. As long as this is true, the fishing should be great and only get better as the water goes down. Hope to see you on the river.
